Best of Scottsdale peaks with ArtWalk, March 21

Best of Scottsdale” will once again feature top Arizona- and Scottsdale-based fine artists whose work is prominent and ever present in and amongst the dozens of famed galleries in the Scottsdale Arts District. The month-long focus will culminate in the 9th annual Best of Scottsdale ArtWalk on Thurs., March 21 from 7-9pm, produced by the Scottsdale Gallery Association (SGA) and hosted in conjunction with the City of Scottsdale.

Best of Scottsdale ArtWalk

Dozens of fine art galleries will be open to the public during Best of Scottsdale ArtWalk, with an extra Arizona emphasis on our homebred fine artists.

Live music along the streets will feature – for the first time at Scottsdale ArtWalk – prominent classical artists the Sonoran Wind Ensemble. Also featured will be the sensational flutist Sherry Finzer joined by guitarist Darin Mahoney, who have teamed up to aid charitable efforts to help in the fight against cancer. Also look for great music from keyboard impressionist Elijah Bossenbroek and Andean folk musician Cesar Cotacachi, among others. There are also prize giveaways and other special doings to be found as one “ArtWalks the Line.”

The Scottsdale ArtWalk is located in the Scottsdale Arts District, featuring dozens of fine art galleries just west of Scottsdale Rd. along Main Street and on Marshall Way north of Indian School Road to Fifth Avenue. There’s lots of free parking and free trolley or carriage rides to all corners of the Arts District.

Jazz on Main Street
Live jazz on Scottsdale’s Main Street

The Scottsdale Arts District is now featuring “Jazz on Main Street” every Saturday afternoon from noon to 4pm, presented by Main Street Galleries and the Scottsdale Gallery Association in conjunction with the City of Scottsdale. The tasty new pairing of cool jazz with fine art and great cuisine (dozens of awesome restaurants also nearby) will continue through April. Currently, the Mary Petrich Trio is resonating its great sound mixing straight-ahead jazz and standards. Petrich is one of the Valley’s most accomplished and appealing tenor saxophonists, and she leads a stellar group.

Jazz on Main Street takes place along the 7100 block of Main Street in downtown Scottsdale, just west of famed Scottsdale Road and two blocks south of Indian School Road along the famed route known as the Scottsdale ArtWalk. An array of popular restaurants are nearby.
